Naperville, Ill. — In partnership with the Illinois Department of Transportation, the Naperville Police Department is enforcing a “Speeding Catches Up With You” July speeding campaign. More than 200 other local police and sheriff’s departments are joining this campaign.

The campaign works with state efforts to reduce speeding in Illinois. Throughout the month of July, there will be an increased amount of patrols on the lookout for speeding and other traffic violations.

“Over the past few years, we have seen an increase in careless and risky driving. No matter how safe of a driver you think you may be, speeding is dangerous,” Naperville Police Sergeant Derek Zook said in the news release. “Speed limits aren’t a suggestion – they are the law.”

The campaign will last from July 6 to 31. Drivers can expect to be ticketed if they are found speeding, especially on major roadways. Naperville Police warned that speeding creates risks for all on the road. The speeding campaign is meant to help save lives.
