NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Authorities in Naperville say a body was found Thursday afternoon in the Springbrook Prairie Forest Preserve.

According to a joint statement from the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County Police and the Naperville Police Department, officers responded around 1:55 p.m. to the trailhead at the southwest corner of the preserve, near the intersection of 83rd Street and Chandelle Drive, following a report of a deceased individual in the prairie. Police said the body was located in a dense area of high grass, and the clothing matched that of Olasinmibo “Sinmi” Abosede, who was last seen earlier this week. Investigators said there are no indications of foul play at this time.

Naperville Police Chief Jason Arres stated that while the deceased is believed to be Abosede, final identification will be made by the DuPage County Coroner’s Office. Arres expressed condolences to the Abosede family and thanked community members for their assistance during the search. “We ask that everyone keep the family in your thoughts and respect their privacy during this difficult time,” Arres said.

Forest Preserve District Police Chief David Pederson also extended condolences, noting that investigators are working closely with Naperville Police and the Coroner’s Office to ensure a thorough and respectful investigation.

The preserve remains open to the public, and officials stressed there is no ongoing threat to public safety. Anyone with information that may assist in the investigation is urged to contact police@dupageforest.org.
