According to the Naperville Fire Department, the city’s Emergency Communications Center received a report at approximately 11:04 p.m. of a vehicle fire inside a garage. A general alarm assignment was dispatched, sending 10 fire apparatus and 24 personnel, including an Incident Commander and Incident Safety Officer.
Fire crews arrived within five minutes and reported heavy fire conditions in the garage, with flames rapidly extending into the home. Firefighters deployed multiple hose lines to slow the fire’s progression, protect unaffected portions of the structure and bring the incident under control. Crews also searched the residence and confirmed all six occupants had safely evacuated prior to their arrival.
Officials said the fire was brought under control at 12:37 a.m. Firefighters remained on scene for approximately 60 additional minutes to extinguish remaining hot spots and complete overhaul operations.
The Naperville Police Department, Lisle-Woodridge Fire Protection District and the American Red Cross assisted at the scene.
Following the investigation, officials determined the structure was uninhabitable. The city’s Transportation, Engineering and Development team also responded. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
