Naperville, Illinois – A convicted felon was charged after police allegedly found multiple firearms in Naperville home.
According to a joint release from the Naperville Police Department and DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office, 46-year-old Dionte Neustaedter of Aurora faces multiple felony charges following a January investigation tied to a reportedly stolen vehicle.
Prosecutors allege officers stopped a 2024 Ford F-150 on Jan. 15 in the 1100 block of North Oswego Avenue after observing a traffic violation. Authorities said the vehicle had been reported stolen out of Tennessee. During the stop, police allegedly discovered a defaced handgun in Neustaedter’s waistband and suspected cocaine inside the vehicle.
Investigators later executed a search warrant at a residence in the 1100 block of East Ogden Avenue. According to authorities, officers allegedly recovered eight firearms, including a loaded machine gun with an automatic switch, multiple loaded handguns, approximately 753 grams of cocaine and $47,120 in U.S. currency.
Neustaedter is charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, possession of a machine gun, eight counts of unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon, aggravated possession of a stolen motor vehicle and misdemeanor fleeing and eluding police. Court records indicate he previously was convicted of possession of cocaine in 2018.
DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin said the investigation expanded after officers located the allegedly stolen vehicle. Naperville Police Chief Jason Arres credited investigators for recovering illegal firearms and narcotics.
Neustaedter’s next court appearance is scheduled for March 23 before Judge Ann Celine O’Hallaren Walsh.
The case may draw attention among young adults and commuters concerned about gun violence and drug trafficking in suburban communities.
