Naperville Fire Division Chief Doug Erwin Dies at 52, Honored for Decades of Service

Tinley Park, IL – The Tinley Park Fire Department is mourning the loss of former Assistant Chief Doug Erwin, who passed away Saturday at 52. Erwin dedicated nearly five decades to firefighting, serving multiple communities in Illinois.

According to the Tinley Park Fire Department, Erwin served for 28 years, rising to Assistant Chief of Maintenance before retiring in 2021. He continued his service as Division Chief of EMS for the Naperville Fire Department, a role he held until his passing.

Erwin, a Manhattan, IL, resident, is survived by his wife, Charla, and children, Keltan and Ryan. His colleagues remember him as a dedicated leader and mentor.

Visitation is scheduled for Friday, January 31, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Brady-Gill Funeral Home in Tinley Park. A funeral service will follow on Saturday, February 1, at Trinity Lutheran Church. Interment will take place at Good Shepherd Cemetery.
