Portage, IN – A suspect has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of 22-year-old Lenell D. Jenkins in Portage. Police responded to the shooting, which occurred at 6515 Ameriplex Drive around 9:30 a.m.
According to the Portage Police Department, detectives identified Lupe O. McGee Jr., 20, as the primary suspect using witness statements and surveillance footage. McGee was arrested without incident at a residence in Merrillville later the same day. Police also recovered a handgun they believe was used in the shooting.
The Porter County Prosecutor’s Office has charged McGee with murder, and he is currently held at the Porter County Jail without bond.
