Troutdale, OR – A suspected impaired driving pursuit early Saturday morning ended in a crash at a Troutdale intersection, though authorities say no serious injuries were reported.
According to the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO), the investigation began around 1:30 a.m. Saturday when a deputy encountered a vehicle stopped beyond the white stop line at the exit of Interstate 84 and Northeast 238th Drive. As the deputy approached, the driver allegedly sped away, crossing multiple lanes of traffic against a red light.
Authorities said another driver with the right of way was forced to make an evasive maneuver to avoid a collision.
The suspect was later identified as 27-year-old Trevor Shuler. According to deputies, Shuler initially appeared to slow and comply with a traffic stop before allegedly fleeing again, prompting a pursuit. MCSO deputies, along with Gresham Police, deployed spike strips in an effort to safely stop the vehicle.
The pursuit ended near the intersection of Southwest Stark Street and Southwest 257th Drive in Troutdale, where Shuler allegedly ran a red light and crashed into another vehicle traveling westbound on Southwest Stark Street. Authorities confirmed neither driver suffered serious injuries.
Deputies took Shuler into custody without further incident. During the investigation, deputies reportedly found drugs inside the vehicle and believe Shuler may have been impaired at the time of the crash.
Shuler was booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center on multiple charges, including reckless driving, attempting to elude by vehicle, driving under the influence of intoxicants, and unlawful possession of a controlled substance. Authorities also confirmed Shuler had an outstanding warrant at the time of arrest.
No booking photos were released. All charges are allegations, and Shuler is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
