Multiple Illinois Deputies Shot While Responding to Suicide-Homicide Threat

Dixon, IL – Three Ogle County Sheriff’s Deputies were struck by gunfire Wednesday morning while responding to a suicide-homicide threat at a residence in Lost Nation.

According to Ogle County Sheriff Brian VanVickle, deputies arrived at 402 Wild Rice Ln. around 8:39 a.m. After 50 failed attempts to communicate with the suspect, the Emergency Response Team entered the home at 11:51 a.m., where they were immediately met with gunfire.

The injured deputies were airlifted to local hospitals. The suspect, also shot during the confrontation, is currently hospitalized. The Illinois State Police are leading the investigation into the incident.
