Los Angeles, CA – The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) recorded a series of small earthquakes off the coast of Southern California and near the Inland Empire early Wednesday morning, November 5, 2025 (UTC).

Two quakes struck just south of Santa Barbara Island, approximately 70 miles west of Los Angeles, within seconds of each other at 02:25:23 UTC (6:25 p.m. PST Tuesday). The first registered magnitude 2.5, followed by a magnitude 2.6, with shallow depths between 7 and 11 kilometers.

Later in the night, at 04:17:06 UTC (8:17 p.m. PST Tuesday), a magnitude 2.5 earthquake occurred 3 km east-southeast of Loma Linda, California, near San Bernardino County. That tremor originated at a depth of about 7 km and received a few “Did You Feel It?” reports on the USGS site, suggesting it was lightly felt in nearby communities such as Redlands and Riverside.

No injuries or damage have been reported, and all three events were classified as minor, typical of Southern California’s ongoing seismic activity. The California Integrated Seismic Network (CISN), which includes Caltech and the USGS, is continuing to monitor the region.

These tremors come amid a quiet week seismically for the Los Angeles Basin, and experts note that small quakes like these are normal along regional faults, including offshore segments near the Channel Islands and San Andreas system inland.
