Scottsbluff, NE – A wide swath of the Central Plains is under threat Thursday evening as severe thunderstorms sweep across Colorado, Nebraska, South Dakota, and Wyoming, with damaging winds and large hail likely through 11 p.m. MDT.

According to the National Weather Service’s Storm Prediction Center, Severe Thunderstorm Watch 410 covers more than 35 counties across four states, including Weld and Logan in Colorado, Scotts Bluff and Cherry in Nebraska, Todd and Tripp in South Dakota, and Laramie in Wyoming. The primary threats include wind gusts over 60 mph, quarter-sized hail, and lightning that could disrupt travel and utilities.

Cities like Greeley, CO; North Platte, NE; Winner, SD; and Torrington, WY are all in the path of this storm system. Residents should secure outdoor objects, stay indoors during warnings, and avoid unnecessary travel as conditions deteriorate this evening. Power outages may occur, and flash flooding is possible in low-lying areas.

The severe threat is expected to ease after midnight, but additional weather alerts may follow if storms redevelop or shift eastward. Stay tuned to NOAA Weather Radio or local news for real-time updates.
