Pueblo, Colorado – Scorching heat will grip southeast and south central Colorado through Wednesday, with triple-digit highs and zero chance of rain threatening health, travel, and wildfire risk across the region. Plains cities including Pueblo, La Junta, and Lamar will see daily highs soar from 94 to 103 degrees, making this the hottest stretch of summer so far.

According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, dry and sunny weather dominates all areas, from the high plains to mountain valleys, with virtually no precipitation expected until at least midweek. Morning lows in the plains will only dip to the mid-60s, providing little overnight relief, while valleys and mountain towns start cooler but quickly heat up each day.

Those working outdoors or traveling in the afternoon should avoid prolonged sun exposure and stay hydrated. The extended dry spell increases the risk of wildfires, especially along U.S. Highway 50, I-25, and in rural communities south of Colorado Springs. Mountain valleys will remain sunny and warm, with highs pushing 90, and even higher elevations from Salida to Alamosa and Westcliffe will see daytime readings into the 80s.

No storms or rain relief are on the horizon until at least Thursday. Residents should prepare for heat-related disruptions, monitor local alerts, and check on vulnerable neighbors. Fire weather warnings and advisories may be issued as conditions remain extreme through Wednesday.
