Mountain Snowstorm to Bring Heavy Accumulation to Oregon and Washington

Pendleton, OR – A new wave of heavy mountain snow is forecast for the Pacific Northwest starting late Sunday. The Oregon Cascades, southern Blue Mountains, and Ochoco-John Day Highlands could see up to 14 inches of snow by Tuesday morning.

According to the National Weather Service in Pendleton, snow showers taper off Sunday morning before intensifying again overnight. The heaviest snowfall will blanket Oregon’s high-elevation regions, while moderate to heavy accumulations impact Washington’s Cascades and northern Blue Mountains.

Winter Storm Watches remain in effect for parts of Oregon through Tuesday. Snow totals are expected to reach 6 to 14 inches, with heavier amounts at higher peaks. Winter Weather Advisories are active for Washington Cascades and nearby areas, predicting 4 to 8 inches.

Officials urge travelers to prepare for hazardous conditions, including slick roads and reduced visibility. Residents in affected areas should stay updated on weather alerts and allow extra travel time.
