Mount Vernon, OH – A man wanted on multiple felony warrants was arrested Thursday evening after a brief police pursuit and vehicle crash in Knox County, according to the Knox County Sheriff’s Office.

Detectives located Shawn Barrett on October 16, 2025, while he was allegedly driving a stolen vehicle reported out of Licking County. When deputies attempted to pull him over on Clutter Road, Barrett allegedly fled, prompting a short pursuit that ended when he crashed off-road and tried to run before being quickly apprehended.

According to investigators, Barrett had several outstanding warrants, including possession of a dangerous ordinance, weapons under disability, illegal manufacture or processing of explosives, and fleeing and eluding law enforcement.

During the arrest, deputies reportedly found a bag containing a large quantity of suspected narcotics and U.S. currency. Barrett was treated for minor injuries at Knox Community Hospital before being booked into the Knox County Jail.

Authorities said the case will be presented to the Knox County Grand Jury, and additional charges may follow. The investigation remains ongoing.
