Mount Shasta, CA – A winter storm watch has been issued for South Central Siskiyou County starting Tuesday afternoon. Heavy snow, high winds, and frigid conditions are forecast through Wednesday evening.
According to the National Weather Service, the region could see 12 to 18 inches of snow in lower elevations, with higher terrain receiving 2 to 3 feet. Wind gusts may reach 55 mph, raising concerns about tree damage and power outages.
Affected areas include Mount Shasta, Dunsmuir, and McCloud, along with portions of Highway 89 and Interstate 5. Snow levels will hover between 3,000 and 3,500 feet during the storm, making travel treacherous.
Hazardous road conditions could disrupt commutes on Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning. Residents are urged to monitor forecasts and prepare for possible disruptions.
