Philadelphia, PA – After a bitterly cold Tuesday morning with temperatures in the teens (and single digits in the Poconos), conditions will remain cold but dry across the region today. The National Weather Service in Philadelphia/Mount Holly forecasts a quick-moving system Wednesday that will bring a mix of rain, snow, and wintry precipitation.
Temperatures on Wednesday (35–50°F) will determine precipitation type. Snow and a wintry mix are expected along and north of the I-78 corridor, while rain will dominate farther south toward Philadelphia. The Poconos could see snow transitioning to freezing rain, with a Winter Weather Advisory in effect for Monroe and Carbon Counties in Pennsylvania from 6 AM to 6 PM Wednesday.
By Thursday, skies turn partly to mostly sunny, but gusty west-northwest winds up to 30 mph will keep highs in the 30s to low 40s.
Drivers should anticipate slick conditions early Wednesday and exercise caution during the morning and evening commutes.
