BOURBONNAIS, IL – Yesterday morning, the roaring engines of over 20 motorcycles resonated through the Kankakee County area streets, all in a heartfelt tribute to our everyday heroes.
The 3rd Annual First Responders Ride, an initiative by the Salvage Yard Biker Church, saw riders parade past 20 area first responder stations lasting two hours in an effort to showcase their dedication to the local community.
Starting from the College Church on the Olivet University Campus and originally slated to end at the Reddick Firehouse, a slight change saw the ride concluding at its starting point. As they thundered through the village on September 16th, multiple motorcycle clubs joined the procession, their route taking them past various police stations and fire departments.
The community was out in force, clapping, waving, and joining the bikers in saluting the bravery of first responders. For those who came out to support, safety and respect were paramount, with reminders to not block bay doors and to always be vigilant for motorcyclists in the area.
Whether you’re a biking enthusiast or simply someone who values the sacrifices of our first responders, this event was a stirring reminder of community solidarity.
