CHESTERTON, IN — An audacious motorcyclist seeking a “fresh start” reportedly led Indiana law enforcement on a high-speed chase through Chesterton streets, reaching perilous speeds of 130 mph, according to the Porter County Sheriff’s Police.

According to police reports, a chase was initiated late Wednesday when an officer detected the motorcycle speeding significantly over the limit on U.S. 20. The pursuit extended across town lines and into Michigan City. Despite near misses, including almost hitting a guardrail, the motorcyclist attempted to evade capture by ditching his bike on the north side of I-94. His escape was short-lived; he was quickly cornered by a fence and taken into custody.

Upon arrest, the 34-year-old rider was reportedly found to be in possession of marijuana, methamphetamine, and other controlled substances. He now faces an array of charges, including resisting law enforcement, drug possession, and reckless driving.
