Nashville, TN – A Nashville man was killed late Saturday night following a collision involving his motorcycle and an SUV on Gallatin Pike, police say.

According to a media release from the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, the fatal crash occurred at approximately 10:15 p.m. near Twin Hills Drive. Authorities have identified the motorcyclist as Joshua Parsons, 44, of Nashville. The preliminary investigation alleges that Parsons was traveling northbound on a Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle toward Hendersonville when he collided with a Honda Pilot SUV that was turning left onto Gallatin Pike from the Target store entrance.

Police state that Parsons was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators reported there were no indications of impairment on the part of the Honda’s driver. However, friends told officers Parsons had just left a nearby restaurant and allegedly appeared impaired. According to officers, those friends claimed they unsuccessfully tried to take Parsons’ keys prior to the incident.

The investigation is ongoing as detectives assess factors contributing to the collision, including whether the Honda driver allegedly failed to yield the right of way and whether Parsons’ alleged speed or impairment affected visibility. No charges have been filed as of Sunday.

Metro Nashville Police continue to urge all drivers to exercise caution along Gallatin Pike, an area that has seen previous serious crashes. Additional details will be released as the investigation proceeds.
