Old Mill Creek, IL – A McHenry man was seriously injured early Friday morning following a hit-and-run crash involving a motorcycle in Lake County.

According to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, the crash happened around 3:10 a.m. on Route 173 near Crawford Road. When deputies arrived at the scene, they found the 54-year-old man, who had been operating a 1993 Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle, suffering from serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators believe the motorcyclist had been traveling eastbound when he was allegedly struck from behind by an unknown vehicle, causing him to lose control and crash. The driver of the other vehicle allegedly fled the scene.

Deputies recovered several car parts from the crash site that are believed to have come from the vehicle that struck the motorcycle. Those parts are now being examined in an effort to determine the make and model of the car involved, officials said.

The motorcyclist was transported to an area hospital, and as of Friday morning, his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Technical Crash Investigations Team continues to investigate the incident. No arrests had been made as of publication.
