Momence, IL – A tragic night unfolded in Kankakee County on Sunday, beginning with a fatal motorcycle collision on Route 17, near the intersection with Route 1. The incident resulted in at least one confirmed death and prompted the closure of Route 17 as emergency crews rushed to the scene around 7:00 PM.Â
The sorrowful events of the evening continued an hour later with another significant accident around 8:00 PM at the intersection of N Wichert Rd & E 0500 N Rd. This major crash involved two vehicles, one of which had a person trapped inside, requiring immediate attention from the Momence Fire Protection District (FPD), Riverside Ambulance, and other emergency services.
Both crashes remain under investigation by area authorities. No identities on the victim of the motorcycle crash have been released at this time. Updates and further information are anticipated to be provided Monday morning.
