Lowell, IN – A Georgia man died early Saturday morning in a motorcycle accident on I-65 near Lowell. The crash occurred at mile marker 244 in the northbound lanes.
According to the Lake County Coroner’s Office, the victim, Eric D. Jones, 57, of Rex, Georgia, was involved in a single-vehicle motorcycle crash. Jones suffered multiple blunt force injuries and was pronounced dead at 5:08 a.m.
The Lake County Coroner’s Medicolegal Death Investigation team responded to the scene after being dispatched at 4:41 a.m. Authorities positively identified the decedent with assistance from his family.
A forensic autopsy is scheduled for Monday at the Lake County Forensic Center in Crown Point. The Indiana State Police, Tri-Creek EMS, and local fire departments also responded to the accident.
Investigations are ongoing, and authorities have yet to determine the cause of the crash.
