East Joliet, Illinois – In a heart-pounding incident that unfolded at 7:30 a.m. Sunday morning, a mother and her child were successfully rescued from a raging structure fire on Fisher Ave and Meadow Ave in East Joliet. Thanks to the swift response from the Rockdale Fire Protection District (FPD), both occupants are now safe.

The blaze had initially trapped the mother and child inside their home, but brave firefighters of East Joliet Engine 52 led a heroic operation to rescue them. The flames were so intense that mutual aid was called in from Channahon, Minooka, Troy, and Lockport to help battle the inferno.

Firefighters have since reported that all occupants have been accounted for. An investigation into what caused the blaze is now ongoing.
