Hartselle, AL – The Morgan County Sheriff’s Office is kicking off a holiday Toy Drive for Foster Care and a Food Drive for Domestic Violence Shelters and area food banks, with collection efforts continuing through December.

According to Sheriff Ron Puckett, deputies will be stationed at the Hartselle Walmart on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. gathering canned food, non-perishable items, and new toys for children in foster care. The Sheriff’s Office will also accept donations throughout the month at its main office and during community events.

The annual December Food Drive is designed to replenish shelves at local domestic violence shelters and regional food banks following the holiday surge, according to the Sheriff’s Office. Officials said donations of canned goods, boxed meals, and other non-perishables are especially needed heading into winter, when service demand increases.

The Toy Drive for Foster Care is held in partnership with the Alabama Department of Human Resources to help provide additional gifts for children placed in the foster system. New, unwrapped toys can be dropped off at any designated site, with deputies coordinating distribution before Christmas.

Community members across Morgan County, including Hartselle, Decatur, Priceville, and surrounding areas, are encouraged to participate. The Sheriff’s Office says the drive directly supports local families facing hardship and helps ensure children in crisis situations feel included during the holiday season.

Residents who cannot attend Saturday’s event may donate anytime this month at the Sheriff’s Office.

How to Help:
• Drop off canned or non-perishable food at MCSO or Walmart collection sites.
• Donate new toys for children in foster care.
• Share the event to increase community participation.
