Morehead City, NC – A dry, secondary cold front is pushing through eastern North Carolina tonight, bringing a sharp drop in temperatures under clear skies, according to the National Weather Service in Newport/Morehead City.
Forecasters say inland areas from Kinston to Greenville and New Bern will see overnight lows in the upper 30s to low 40s, while coastal towns including Rodanthe, Frisco, and Ocracoke will remain milder, in the low 50s.
Despite the chill, skies are expected to stay clear and dry, with light northwest winds keeping conditions calm into Monday morning. The cool air marks a brief return to more seasonable November weather following a recent mild stretch.
“Skies will remain clear tonight as a dry cold front moves through eastern North Carolina,” the NWS reported Sunday. “Temperatures will drop into the 30s inland and low 50s along the Outer Banks.”
No precipitation is expected, and the region should warm slightly during the day Monday before another cool night sets in.
