Morehead City, NC – Early risers along the Crystal Coast will notice a damp start this morning, with patchy fog and drizzle clinging to roadways from Beaufort to Newport. Pavement glistens under headlights as mild 60-degree air mixes with a light south breeze, keeping humidity high and visibility low in a few inland spots.
According to the National Weather Service in Morehead City, light showers are expected before mid-morning before skies gradually brighten into the afternoon. Highs will reach the lower 70s under partly sunny skies, while west winds pick up to around 10 mph, helping dry out the coast by late day. Those traveling along Route 70 or heading toward Atlantic Beach should expect wet spots early, but calmer driving conditions by midday.
Friday will bring full sunshine and crisp, pleasant weather with highs near 65°F and lows dipping into the low 40s — some of the coolest readings of the season so far for Carteret County. By Saturday, another picture-perfect day unfolds, ideal for fishing, boating, or late fall decorating before milder air returns early next week.
Sunday remains warm near 67°F, with only a few thin clouds drifting in from the west. A slight chance of showers may develop Monday, but the broader trend shows continued dry, comfortable weather through midweek.
For now, North Carolina’s coastal stretch is in for a welcome break from rain and humidity — the kind of bright, calm stretch locals wait for all season to enjoy those last few beach mornings before winter’s chill starts edging closer inland.
