MOREHEAD CITY, N.C. – Eastern North Carolina is enjoying a stretch of pleasant late-summer weather, with sunshine and cooler-than-normal conditions holding steady through the end of the week. Highs are topping out in the low to mid-80s, while overnight lows dip comfortably into the 60s.
According to the National Weather Service in Newport/Morehead City, only a small chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms is expected late Thursday into Friday, with probabilities near 15 percent. Most of the region will stay dry, with breezy afternoons and clear mornings offering ideal conditions for outdoor plans.
Beaches from Emerald Isle to the Outer Banks will see highs near 80 through the weekend, with overnight lows in the upper 60s. The mild pattern means surf conditions remain manageable, though visitors are urged to check local rip current advisories before swimming.
Inland communities such as Greenville and Kinston can also expect comfortable daytime highs in the low 80s through Friday before creeping into the mid-80s by the weekend. Travelers and residents alike should still keep an umbrella handy, as a pop-up shower or storm cannot be ruled out.
The National Weather Service says this fall-like stretch will persist into early next week, keeping the heat at bay a little longer.
