Morehead City, NC – As Eastern North Carolina heads into November, patchy frost is once again expected tonight across inland areas west of Highway 17, according to the National Weather Service in Newport/Morehead City.

Low temperatures are forecast to fall into the mid-30s inland and the low 40s near the coast, creating conditions favorable for frost development by early Sunday morning.

“Right on cue, another night of patchy to areas of frost is expected tonight,” forecasters said, noting that inland ENC typically sees its first frost in late October, while coastal areas experience it in early November.

Communities such as Newport, Peletier, and Stella may also see light frost, despite being close to the coast, due to calm winds and clear skies.

Residents are advised to protect sensitive plants and outdoor vegetation that could be affected by the cold.

Sunday will bring a sunny but cool morning, followed by a milder afternoon as high temperatures climb back into the upper 50s to mid-60s.
