Montgomery County, TX – A coordinated law-enforcement response led to the swift arrest of a man accused of a bank-jugging theft Wednesday afternoon in the Spring area, authorities said. Deputies reported the suspect allegedly targeted a driver who had just withdrawn cash before confronting him in a parking lot around 12:30 p.m.
According to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, the victim told dispatchers he noticed he had been followed from a bank in New Caney before an unidentified man allegedly approached his parked vehicle, grabbed the cash, and fled on foot.
Deputies, Splendora Police, the Texas Department of Public Safety, and Precinct 4 Constables quickly established a perimeter while drones and canines were deployed to track the suspect, officials said.
Law enforcement later identified the suspect as 20-year-old David Tremaine Florence, who was located within the perimeter and taken into custody without further incident. According to investigators, Florence is also believed to be connected to additional criminal activity, and the case remains under active investigation.
Sheriff Wesley Doolittle thanked assisting agencies, emphasizing the county’s commitment to stopping bank-jugging crimes. “Together, we are better,” he said. “We will continue to take a strong stance against crime and will not allow bank jugging to take root in Montgomery County.”
Authorities have not yet released additional details on potential charges.
