Montgomery County, TX – A Houston man was arrested Monday afternoon following a retail theft and highway pursuit that began at the Ulta Beauty store in the Valley Ranch shopping center, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.

At about 4 p.m., store employees reported a man allegedly concealing merchandise before leaving the store and fleeing in a blue BMW. Deputies quickly located the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop, but the suspect did not comply, prompting a chase along U.S. Highway 59.

Officers from the Montgomery County Constable’s Office Precinct 4 and the Texas Department of Public Safety joined the pursuit. The chase ended near the 23000 block of the U.S. 59 feeder road, where DPS troopers used a Pursuit Intervention Technique to stop the vehicle safely.

The driver, identified as 31-year-old Stephen Price of Houston, was taken into custody and charged with theft and felony evading, deputies said. Stolen items from Ulta Beauty and other merchandise linked to previous thefts were recovered from the vehicle.

Investigators later connected Price to additional retail theft incidents in The Woodlands and New Caney, authorities added.

The Sheriff’s Office praised the joint response between agencies, crediting quick coordination for safely ending the pursuit.
