Montgomery County, TX – Two suspected drunk drivers were involved in back-to-back crashes early Sunday morning on U.S. Highway 59, resulting in damage to first responder vehicles and injuries to a tow truck driver, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities said the first crash occurred around 2:30 a.m. on November 2, 2025, when a Chevy pickup struck a barrier on Highway 59. Fire units, EMS, and a tow truck responded to assist. While crews awaited law enforcement, another vehicle allegedly driven by an intoxicated driver hit the fire truck and then the tow truck—both with emergency lights activated.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, no firefighters were injured. The tow truck driver was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and is expected to recover.

The initial collision is being investigated by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, while the secondary crash involving emergency vehicles is under review by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS). The Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office is also consulting with investigators.

Preliminary findings suggest both drivers were intoxicated. Pending toxicology results, officials said charges for DWI and DWI Intoxicated Assault may be filed later.

No additional information has been released. Investigative inquiries related to the second crash are being handled by the Texas DPS.
