Great Falls, MT – A strong early-season storm is sweeping across western Montana and northwest Wyoming, bringing snow and gusty winds that could make travel treacherous through Monday, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).
Forecasters say the East Glacier Park Region — including Saint Mary, Babb, and Logan Pass — could see up to six inches of snow by midday Monday, with wind gusts reaching 55 mph. In the Little Belt and Highwood Mountains, snowfall totals between 2 to 4 inches are expected, with up to 7 inches near Kings Hill Pass.
In Wyoming, the Absaroka and Teton Mountains are forecast to receive 6 to 10 inches of snow, mainly above 8,000 feet, with wind gusts as high as 70 mph near Chief Joseph Highway. The NWS warns of whiteout conditions and difficult travel, especially over Togwotee Pass.
Motorists are urged to slow down and use caution, as slippery and snow-covered roads are likely across high passes. The strongest winds are expected Sunday evening, with snow continuing into Monday morning.
