Glasgow, MT – Northeast Montana faces hazardous travel conditions tonight into Tuesday as a mix of rain, freezing rain, and light snow spreads across the region, according to the National Weather Service in Glasgow. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for all of northeast Montana from 11 p.m. tonight to 2 p.m. Tuesday.
Forecasters warn that pavement temperatures may fall below freezing in areas receiving rain, allowing ice to quickly form on roads, bridges, and sidewalks. Even light freezing rain could create slick and dangerous travel conditions early Tuesday.
Light snow is also expected at times through Tuesday morning, adding to reduced visibility and potentially icy surfaces. While accumulations should remain minimal, the primary impact will be freezing rain and rapidly forming ice.
Strong west winds are also expected tonight and Tuesday, which may worsen visibility during periods of falling snow and create additional travel difficulty on open roadways.
Residents across Valley, Daniels, Sheridan, Roosevelt, McCone, Richland, and surrounding counties should be prepared for deteriorating road conditions late tonight and during the Tuesday morning commute.
