Helena, MT – A winter weather advisory remains in effect for several regions of Montana, with hazardous conditions expected to impact travel until Wednesday morning.
According to the National Weather Service, snow accumulations will range from 1 to 3 inches in valleys to 3 to 6 inches in foothills. Areas such as the Helena Valley, Canyon Ferry Area, and Madison River Valley are particularly affected. Motorists are advised to be cautious as slippery road conditions could disrupt the morning and evening commutes. Snowfall is expected to continue through the night, potentially causing delays in travel.
In addition, regions such as Northwest Beaverhead County and portions of southern Montana, including Red Lodge, will experience up to 12 inches of snow in higher elevations. Winds gusting up to 40 mph may exacerbate driving conditions, especially in mountainous areas. Travel could be dangerous, and delays are expected along major routes like Interstate 15.
Motorists are urged to check road conditions by visiting the MDT Road Report website or calling 511 for the latest updates. As temperatures remain low, livestock owners are also reminded to monitor newborn animals due to the cold air advisory.
