GLASGOW, Mont. – A quiet, frosty start greets the Hi-Line this morning as clear skies stretch across the Milk River Valley. The chill in the air is short-lived, though — sunshine and mild breezes will carry much of northeast Montana through a comfortable mid-November stretch before a breezy, cooler pattern returns late week.

According to the National Weather Service in Glasgow, Tuesday stays sunny with highs around 54 degrees and west-northwest winds gusting up to 23 mph. Skies remain mostly calm through Wednesday, though increasing clouds will hint at a subtle shift ahead. The midweek warmth peaks Thursday and Friday, when temperatures climb into the low 60s — nearly ten degrees above normal for this point in November.

By Friday afternoon, however, those warmer readings will give way to brisk west winds, gusting near 25 mph in open areas along U.S. Highway 2 and I-94. While no precipitation is expected, the gusty flow will stir up light dust and make outdoor work less comfortable. Cooler air will spill in by Saturday, trimming highs back into the lower 50s and signaling the next downward turn toward typical late-fall conditions.

Residents should take advantage of this mild stretch to prepare for colder days ahead — clearing leaves, winterizing vehicles, or wrapping outdoor pipes before a stronger front develops early next week. After all, this warmth won’t last long, and early hints of snow are beginning to show in long-range models for the northern Plains before Thanksgiving.
