GLASGOW, Mont. – The wind howls across the prairie this morning, carrying the crisp scent of late fall and the steady roar of whitecaps on Fort Peck Lake. Gusts are already raking across northeast Montana, making for a rough day on the water and dusty conditions inland.

The National Weather Service in Glasgow has issued a Lake Wind Advisory through 7 p.m. today for Fort Peck Lake and surrounding counties, including Valley, Garfield, and McCone. Winds will blow steadily from the west at 20 to 25 mph, with gusts up to 35 mph possible. Small craft operators should avoid venturing out today, as waves may reach four feet and capsized boats are possible in open water.

Across the region, temperatures will rise to near 59°F under mostly cloudy skies before clearing later this afternoon. As winds ease toward evening, calmer weather returns, setting up a mild and bright start to the week. Monday and Tuesday bring classic Montana fall conditions — sunny, crisp, and dry — with highs climbing into the mid-50s and lows dipping near freezing.

By midweek, skies remain clear and winds light, making it ideal weather for outdoor prep before Halloween weekend. Early signs suggest a chilly November may follow, with a shift toward colder air and possible frost across northern valleys. For now, though, Montana enjoys a brief pause between gusts and the gradual slide toward early winter.

Five-Day Outlook for Glasgow, MT:
Sun: 59/42 – Strong winds; gusts up to 35 mph.
Mon: 54/29 – Mostly sunny; calmer winds.
Tue: 52/25 – Sunny; crisp and dry.
Wed: 58/28 – Bright skies; light breeze.
Thu: 55/27 – Mild fall day; calm evening.
