Glasgow, Mont. – Thunderstorms could disrupt outdoor plans across northeast Montana this afternoon before a stretch of hot, dry weather settles in through Labor Day. Temperatures in Glasgow are expected to top out near 83 degrees Saturday, but forecasters warn of a 20% chance of showers and storms between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m.

According to the National Weather Service in Glasgow, winds will shift south by afternoon at 5 to 10 mph, helping fuel pop-up storms. Any thunderstorm could bring brief downpours and gusty winds, though widespread severe weather is not expected.

Conditions improve quickly by Sunday, with sunny skies and highs near 90 degrees. Labor Day is also expected to reach 90, with light winds and plenty of sunshine across Valley County and surrounding areas. Travelers on U.S. Highway 2 and local outdoor recreation spots, including Fort Peck Lake, should prepare for hot sun and limited shade.

Cooler air gradually returns by midweek, with Tuesday staying warm near 82 before highs dip back into the 70s by Wednesday. Residents are advised to stay hydrated and limit strenuous outdoor activity during peak afternoon heat.

Warm, dry weather remains the theme through Thursday, though gusty winds may create elevated fire danger across eastern Montana.
