GLASGOW, Mont. – Boaters on Fort Peck Lake face hazardous conditions Friday as strong northwest winds and high waves sweep across northeastern Montana. The National Weather Service has issued a Lake Wind Advisory in effect from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m.
According to the National Weather Service in Glasgow, sustained winds between 15 and 25 mph are expected, with gusts reaching up to 35 mph. Wave heights could build to three feet, creating dangerous conditions for small craft.
Communities including Glasgow, Jordan, Malta, and Winnett are all under the advisory. Local officials warn that small boats may be overturned in the choppy waters, and anyone venturing out should wear life jackets and exercise extreme caution.
