According to the National Weather Service in Missoula, freezing rain and light snow have created hazardous road conditions, especially on secondary roads already covered in packed snow. Ice accumulations of up to one-tenth of an inch have been reported in some areas, along with snowfall totals reaching up to five inches on Lookout Pass.
Affected areas include I-90 from Lookout Pass to Bearmouth, Highway 200 from Bonner to Greenough, and routes through Seeley Lake, Polson, and the Flathead Valley. Marias Pass and surrounding areas are also experiencing snowfall of 1 to 2 inches.
Drivers are urged to slow down and use caution, as road surfaces may be icy due to freezing rain. The latest road conditions can be obtained by dialing 511. Authorities recommend checking conditions before traveling and taking extra precautions on stairs, sidewalks, and driveways due to potential ice buildup.
