Glasgow, Montana – Drivers across northeast Montana should prepare for a hot, windy start to October, with near-record temperatures and strong gusts creating hazards along US-2. Tuesday may top out at 88 degrees before conditions ease slightly by midweek.

According to the National Weather Service in Glasgow, east-southeast winds Monday will increase to 14 mph, with gusts near 24 mph. Winds persist Tuesday, shifting from east to south by afternoon, then turning west overnight with gusts up to 18 mph. Travelers along rural highways, including US-2, could face difficult crosswinds, especially for high-profile vehicles.

The unseasonably warm stretch continues Wednesday with highs in the low 80s under sunny skies. By Thursday, breezes turn north and temperatures dip slightly, though highs still hold near 82. The first sign of a fall shift arrives late Thursday night when scattered showers may push into Valley County.

Residents should secure outdoor items, limit unnecessary travel in strong winds, and hydrate during unusually warm afternoons. Fire danger also increases under hot, dry, and breezy conditions.

Cooler air returns Friday with highs near 73 and a gradual slide toward more seasonal fall weather this weekend. Saturday and Sunday bring highs in the 60s with a chance of showers Sunday morning.

Warnings remain in place for gusty winds through Wednesday. More advisories could be issued if showers develop late week.
