Stanford, MT – A High Wind Warning remains in effect for Judith Basin County and the Judith Gap area through 5 a.m. Tuesday, with powerful west winds continuing to sweep across the region, according to the National Weather Service in Great Falls.
Forecasters report sustained winds of 25 to 35 mph, with gusts reaching up to 60 mph overnight. These winds could move loose debris, damage property, and lead to isolated power outages due to downed branches or power lines.
The NWS warns that travel may be hazardous, particularly for high-profile vehicles along exposed routes, including U.S. Highway 87, Highway 191, and the Judith Gap corridor. Drivers are advised to use extra caution and keep a firm grip on the wheel when encountering crosswinds.
Residents should secure outdoor objects, such as trash bins, patio furniture, or holiday decorations, that could be blown around or damaged by strong gusts.
Winds are expected to gradually diminish early Tuesday morning as the system moves east of the area.
