Billings, Montana – Snow and gusty winds continue to create slick travel conditions across parts of south-central Montana overnight, with blowing snow reducing visibility through early Sunday morning.

According to the National Weather Service in Billings, a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 6 a.m. Sunday for areas including the Red Lodge Foothills, Beartooth Foothills, Northern Carbon County, and parts of southern Big Horn County. Light snowfall will continue overnight, with up to 1 inch of additional accumulation, though isolated spots could see around 2 inches in southern Big Horn County. Winds may gust near 30 mph, blowing snow across open roads.

Communities including Red Lodge, Joliet, Fromberg, Roberts, Nye, Lodge Grass, Wyola, and Pryor could experience slick roadways as colder air moves into the region overnight.

Further east in Fallon and Carter counties, including Baker, Ekalaka, and Alzada, a downgraded advisory replaces an earlier winter storm warning as snowfall weakens. Even so, light accumulation and gusty winds may still produce slippery conditions.

Across the border in Wyoming’s Sheridan Foothills, including Sheridan, Ranchester, and Dayton, an advisory continues until noon Sunday, where 35 mph wind gusts may cause blowing snow and visibility dropping below half a mile at times.

Officials urge drivers to slow down and check 511 road reports before traveling overnight. Snow is expected to gradually diminish by Sunday morning, though breezy conditions may linger into the afternoon.
