Glasgow, Montana – Sweltering heat and patchy morning fog will return to northeast Montana Thursday, July 24, as Glasgow climbs to a high near 88°F by mid-afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service in Glasgow, patchy fog will develop early Thursday, especially along U.S. Highway 2, before skies clear and temperatures rise. Winds will shift southeast at 5 to 9 mph by midday, increasing fire danger across open rangelands. Visibility could briefly drop near river bottoms and low-lying roads before sunrise.

Friday will bring a sharper temperature jump, peaking at 93°F, with gusts up to 18 mph as winds shift southwest to northeast. Dry conditions continue until late Saturday, when a 30% chance of thunderstorms returns overnight, especially near Fort Peck and Nashua.

By Sunday, scattered storms could redevelop after noon with a high near 90°F. NWS warns of potential wind shifts and quick-moving cells through Sunday night into Monday morning. Monday holds another storm chance as temperatures hover in the mid-80s.

Glasgow residents should limit outdoor activity during peak heat, hydrate often, and avoid parking on dry grass to reduce fire risk. Travelers on rural routes should watch for wildlife and fog early Thursday.

Storm chances and cooler temps may linger into Tuesday. Stay updated as new advisories could be issued ahead of weekend storms.
