Glasgow, Montana – Roads across southwest Phillips County could turn snow-packed by midmorning Friday as a winter storm drops up to 8 inches of snow and creates blowing snow through Saturday morning.

According to the National Weather Service in Glasgow, a Winter Storm Warning is in effect from 8 a.m. Friday until 11 a.m. MST Saturday for southwest Phillips County, including Zortman. Forecasters expect total snow accumulations between 4 and 8 inches, with wind gusts reaching 30 mph. The combination of steady snowfall and gusty winds may reduce visibility and create drifting across open areas.

Highways near Zortman and rural county roads could become slick quickly, especially during the Friday evening commute. Blowing snow may cover previously treated surfaces, leading to patchy ice and reduced traction overnight.

Drivers should allow extra travel time and carry emergency supplies, including blankets, food and water. Montana 511 provides updated road conditions statewide.

Snow is expected to taper off late Saturday morning, but plow crews may still be clearing secondary routes into the afternoon. Additional advisories could be issued if bands of heavier snow develop.
