Billings, Montana – Strong to severe thunderstorms could rattle parts of southeastern Montana and northeastern Wyoming late this afternoon through tonight, bringing hail, damaging winds, and heavy downpours to outdoor events and evening travel.
According to the National Weather Service in Billings, scattered storms are expected between 2 and 11 p.m. Saturday, mainly impacting areas near Broadus, Alzada, and southeastern Carter County. The primary threats include quarter-sized hail and wind gusts up to 65 mph, with brief heavy rain increasing the risk for localized flooding.
Billings and Miles City may see isolated activity, but the highest concern centers on far southeastern Montana. Drivers on Highway 212 and smaller rural routes near the Wyoming border should be prepared for rapidly changing conditions. Residents with outdoor plans are urged to stay weather-aware, move activities indoors if storms develop, and identify nearby shelter locations.
Storms will likely weaken after sunset as they move east, but more storm chances could return later this weekend.
