Montana Severe Thunderstorm Watch Issued for Central and Southwest Regions Until 10PM

Helena, MT – The National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for central and southwest Montana, effective from Tuesday afternoon until 10:00 PM MDT. The affected area includes regions approximately 85 miles north and south of a line extending from 20 miles north of Dillon to 125 miles east-northeast of Lewistown.

Residents should prepare for potentially damaging wind gusts up to 70 mph and isolated large hail up to 1.5 inches in diameter. Thunderstorms are expected to develop over the mountains in the southwest and move quickly eastward throughout the evening.

According to the NWS, those in the watch area should stay alert for rapidly changing weather conditions and heed any further warnings that may be issued.
