Glasgow, Montana – Red Flag Warning: High Fire Danger in Valley and Phillips Counties Noon to 8 p.m. Saturday

Fire crews across northern Valley and Phillips counties are bracing for a dangerous stretch of fire weather on Saturday, with dry air and gusty winds increasing the risk of fast-moving wildfires.

According to the National Weather Service in Glasgow, a Red Flag Warning is in effect from noon to 8 p.m. MDT for fire weather zone 134, including all of northern Valley and Phillips counties. Northwest winds are expected to reach 15 to 20 mph, with gusts up to 30 mph. Humidity will drop as low as 10 percent, creating conditions where any spark could quickly grow out of control.

Officials urge residents to avoid all outdoor burning and activities that could cause sparks, especially near dry grasses or fields. Local roads such as U.S. Highway 2 and rural county routes are at increased risk, and travelers should use extra caution. Fire departments and landowners are being advised to keep equipment ready and report any smoke or flames immediately.

With no thunderstorms expected to bring relief, the dry, windy pattern will persist through Saturday evening. Residents should stay alert for emergency updates and be prepared to act quickly if new fires start. Additional advisories may be issued if critical conditions continue.
