Missoula, MT – A frost advisory has been issued for parts of western Montana and eastern Idaho, with overnight lows expected to dip near the freezing mark Tuesday morning.
According to the National Weather Service in Missoula, the advisory is in effect from 3 a.m. to 10 a.m. Tuesday, September 23. Temperatures between 32 and 36 degrees are likely, leading to widespread frost formation.
The advisory covers multiple regions, including the Missoula and Bitterroot valleys, Flathead and Mission valleys, the Lower Clark Fork region, the Kootenai/Cabinet region of Montana, and Eastern Lemhi County in Idaho.
Forecasters caution that frost could damage or kill sensitive outdoor vegetation if left uncovered. Residents are encouraged to bring potted plants indoors, cover gardens, and take other protective measures tonight.
The cold snap could have particular impact on late-season crops, backyard gardens, and landscaping across the valleys of western Montana and eastern Idaho.
