Lincoln, MT – A 2.5 magnitude earthquake struck 14 kilometers southeast of Lincoln, Montana, Friday afternoon. The tremor hit at 11:47 a.m. local time, causing minor ground shaking.
The earthquake occurred at a depth of 9.9 kilometers. The quake was centered in a region near the Lewis Range, which frequently experiences seismic activity. So far, only a handful of residents have reported feeling the shaking.
According to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), citizens are encouraged to report any quake experiences through their “Did You Feel It?” platform. Collecting this data helps scientists analyze the event and better understand its impact.
