Tomah, WI – A Black River Falls man was arrested early Sunday after allegedly leading officers on two separate pursuits in the City of Tomah late Saturday night, authorities said.

According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, a Tomah Police officer attempted to stop an SUV at approximately 11:48 p.m. Saturday near E. Clifton Street and Superior Avenue for squealing tires and speeding. The driver allegedly fled, eventually leaving the roadway and crashing in a marshy area near the dead end of Stoughton Avenue west of Hollister Avenue.

Multiple agencies—including the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, two K-9 units, Wisconsin State Patrol, and Tomah Police—searched for the suspect. The Tomah Fire Department also deployed a drone. Despite the extensive search, officers were unable to locate the driver.

A short time later, Wisconsin State Patrol reported that a trooper had also been involved in a separate pursuit with the same vehicle prior to the Tomah incident. During that earlier chase, the suspect allegedly struck another motorist near N. Superior Avenue at Veterans Street. The trooper ended the pursuit to check on the occupants of the struck vehicle, who were not seriously injured.

Investigators ultimately identified the suspect as an 18-year-old man from Black River Falls. Deputies located him inside a residence in the 1600 block of Kilbourn Avenue, where he was allegedly hiding in a closet, officials said.

Tomah Police transported the suspect to the Monroe County Jail, where he faces multiple charges related to both pursuits. He is being held on a $1,000 cash bond.
