Rochester, NY – Three individuals were arrested Wednesday after Monroe County Sheriff’s deputies located a stolen 2019 KIA Sorrento that had been taken earlier in the day from a Pittsford parking lot, leading to a brief pursuit and multi-location search across Rochester.

According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, deputies first responded at 1:21 p.m. to the parking lot of 3750 Monroe Avenue, where surveillance footage showed the vehicle being stolen around 12:20 p.m. Using information from the vehicle owner and nearby cameras, deputies tracked the KIA to Rochester shortly after 3 p.m. Deputies attempted a traffic stop, but the driver allegedly fled, prompting a short pursuit that ended when officers lost sight of the SUV.

Deputies continued searching and, around 3:24 p.m., found the vehicle unoccupied in a lot off Ward Street. Surveillance footage showed four suspects leaving the KIA moments earlier. Deputies soon observed three individuals matching the description entering a gray SUV nearby. After conducting a traffic stop, deputies detained the group. A fourth suspect remains outstanding.

Investigators later charged Paolina N. Serrano-Rodriguez, 18, and Radayzel M. Torres, 20, both of Rochester, with criminal possession of stolen property in the third degree, a Class D felony. Deputies transported both to Monroe County CAP Court for arraignment.

A 16-year-old juvenile was also charged with the same felony offense and was released to a guardian with an appearance ticket for Monroe County Youth Part.

Deputies encouraged residents to remain vigilant amid an ongoing rise in stolen vehicles and break-ins, reminding the public to lock cars and secure valuables. Anyone with information is asked to contact 911.
